Ball orbits and figure eight

This drill builds grip strength and ball familiarity so the hands stop thinking.

What good looks like

  • Fingertip control, not palms
  • Eyes off the ball
  • Continuous rhythm

The drill

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, ball in two hands.
  2. Pass the ball around your waist hand to hand, ten times each direction.
  3. Widen your stance and run a figure eight between and around your legs, hand to hand.
  4. Keep your eyes forward, not on the ball. If it drops, pick it up and carry on.

Space

2m x 2m flat area, one ball.

Make it harder / make it easier

Harder. Speed up until the rhythm breaks, then hold the fastest clean pace; add a seated set (seated carve-out applies).

Easier. Slow to half pace and let the eyes check the ball every few reps.

How to film it

Prop the phone front-on at waist height, full body in frame. How to film a drill.
