A rugby coach in your pocket
Then talk it through with Coach Ellis.
Real app output on a sample clip. Sped up.
You want to get better. You’re just not sure what to work on today.
You can’t see your own pass, and nobody’s there to tell you if it was right.
Your coach has thirty players. The extra ten minutes are on you.
Rugby AI turns one filmed rep into a clear answer: what to change, and the drill that changes it.
Who plays, your position, and what you’re preparing for. No account.
At practice, on the iPhone you already have.
Passing gets a score out of 100. Kicking, catching and running get counted. Every check names what to change.
Talk it through with your coach.
Same drill next week. See if you’ve moved up a band.
Real app output on sample clips.
Ask Ellis anything about rugby. Ask her what to work on tonight. She reads your latest check and turns it into the next thing to do.

How do I get more power on my two-hand pass?
Power comes from the transfer of your weight and a clean finish. Drive from your hips, slide your arms through, and direct the ball where you want it to land.
Your last check was a passing check. Your pass score was 80. The cues to focus on are to follow through toward the target and finish with your fingers pointing where the ball should go.
Take that cue into Gate passing. The drill card setup is two cones, 2m apart. Pass through the gate, resetting your shoulders each rep, and count clean passes. Aim for around 8 clean passes through the gate, and stop sooner if they get messy.
Work those hands straight through to the target on every rep. Let me know how the set feels.
Rugby AI only scores a clip it can read clearly, so when you see a number, it’s yours.
Too dark, too far away, or something in the way? It tells you what to fix and asks for a retake. A clip it can’t read never costs you a check.
Every passing score lands in one of five bands. Film the same drill next week and see if you’ve moved up one. Kicking, catching and running are counted, and each count sits beside your own earlier counts.
Hold the phone and film one rep. Rugby AI names the fix and the drill in plain language, so the player knows exactly what to do next.

Your technique. Passing is scored out of 100 and lands in one of five bands: Raw, Developing, Solid, Sharp and Select-side. Kicking, catching and running are counted: Rugby AI tells you what happened and how many times, and compares it with your own earlier checks. It doesn’t score matches or keep game stats.
Rugby AI is an iPhone app that coaches your rugby technique from one filmed rep. It scores your passing out of 100, counts your kicking, catching and running, names what to change, and gives you the drill that changes it. It’s built for the extra ten minutes after practice, when nobody’s watching and there’s nobody to tell you whether you got it right.
One player, one skill, one rep. A few seconds of phone video, shot from the side at about chest height, close enough that the whole body is in frame. Prop the phone somewhere and you don’t need a second person.
Players 13 and up, with no upper limit. Adults are first-class users rather than an afterthought: a 30 year old club player and a 15 year old at school get the same scoring and the same coaching language. A parent or a teammate can film a player instead. Under 13 is not supported.
Yes. Hold the phone and film one rep. Rugby AI names the fix and the drill in plain language, so the player knows exactly what to do next.
Yes. A parent or a teammate can hold the phone. The checks and the history belong to the player on the tape. Under 13 is not supported.
Ellis is the AI coach in the app. Ask her anything about rugby, or about your last check. She reads your latest check, not your video, and she keeps it about you: no comparisons with other players.
No. An iPhone and somewhere to prop it. No sensors, nothing to wear, no second person. No ball handy? Watch Rugby AI score a sample pass first. It’s clearly marked, it never lands in your history, and it never uses a check.
