Wall rebound catch

This drill is catching a ball you did not throw to yourself on a line, reacting to the rebound.

What good looks like

  • Early reach toward the ball
  • Fingers spread, thumbs close
  • Eyes on the ball to the hands

The drill

  1. Stand 3 meters from a flat wall.
  2. Throw the ball firmly against the wall at varying heights and take the rebound on the full.
  3. Keep your hands up and reaching toward the wall before the ball comes off it.
  4. Mix the throw angle so some rebounds arrive at your chest, some high, some low.

Space

A flat wall, one ball, 4m of run-off.

Make it harder / make it easier

Harder. Stand closer to shorten reaction time, or throw off-line so you must move your feet to the catch.

Easier. Step back to 5 meters and throw only chest-height.

How to film it
