How to spin pass

This drill builds the spiral release for distance passing, using a wall mark as the receiver line.

What good looks like

  • Ball axis tipped before the spin (spiral setup)
  • Shoulders set
  • Follow-through toward the mark

The drill

  1. Pick a mark on the wall at your chest height. Stand 6 meters away, side-on.
  2. Tip the long axis of the ball about a third off horizontal before you swing.
  3. Sweep the ball back and across, spinning it off your top hand at the mark.
  4. Collect the rebound, reset your grip fully each rep. Do not rush the setup.

Space

A flat wall, one ball, 8m of run-off, chalk or tape for the mark.

Make it harder / make it easier

Harder. Step back a meter each set you hit the mark 6 times or more.

Easier. Drop to 4 meters and shadow the motion without release for the first set.

How to film it
